Morey-Coffinet

2002 Morey-Coffinet Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot

By on February 28, 2005 #asides

Medium, medium-plus cherry-red colour. Slightly toast on the warm, sweet red nose. The palate shows an oaky toasty base – but it’s well done – it’s additive to the flavour rather than the texture. Sweet with good acidity and a nice burst on the finish. Good fruit. Needs longer for the oak to better integrate but it’s already very drinkable – tasty!

Medium-plus ruby red with just a little amber development. The nose shows very dark cherry fruit over an oaky base – there’s still some toast evident – but it’s by no means overdone. A super, fat palate with very well covered tannins and good acidity. The fruit is a little muddy and imprecise – but you can wallow in it! Excellent €16 burgundy!

Medium ruby red. The nose is spicy with toasty oak – does a good job of masking the fruit. The palate is oaky and sweet with very smooth tannins and good acidity. I like the concentration. Personally I’d wait for the oak to subside, but this drinks very well already – excellent value too.
